Highest-living ungulate
The Siberian ibex (Capra sibirica) lives at higher altitudes than any other ungulate (hoofed animal) – at up to 6,700 m (21,981 ft) above sea level on steep slopes and alpine meadows in the Himalayas. Nearby, on the Tibetan Plateau, the wild yak (Bos mutus) is found at elevations up to 6,100 m (20,013 ft), making it the highest-living bovine.
