In a survey of movies made around the world between 2000 and 2022, film researcher Stephen Follows found that Irish films contained the most uses of what censors classify as "very strong" swearing, with an average of 26.6 instances per film.
Almost 70% of Irish films contain at least one "strong" or "very strong" swear-word.
