Sail Training International is the organizer of The Tall Ships Races and a registered charity established to develop and educate young people – regardless of nationality, culture, religion, gender or social background – through sail-training experience. Sail Training International works with the world’s sail-training Tall Ships and National Sail Training Organisations to help young people grow in self-confidence, develop effective communication and learn new life skills. They are also the world’s leading provider of Tall Ships events.
The fastest ship to take part in a Sail Training International Tall Ship Race is Norway's Statsraad Lehmkuhl, which achieved a speed of 12.49 knots (23.1 km/h; 14.3 mph) averaged over 124 hours in 2016.
