Bonnie and Simba: Incredible dogs

It’s clear from the moment you see them: Bonnie and Simba (UK) might be an adorable duo, but they also have talent in spades.

The pair broke four records alongside their trainer, 43-year-old dog handler Olga Jones:

  • Fastest time to complete 10 side leapfrog jumps by two dogs - 16.78 seconds
  • Most bottles deposited into a recycling bin by a dog in one minute - 16
  • Most coins deposited into a bottle by a dog in one minute - 13
  • Most clothes hung on a washing line by a dog in one minute - 17

Olga loves Bonnie and Simba to bits, and the two dogs are members of the family as much as her husband Rob and her two sons, Alec and Henry.

“Simba and Bonnie are just like two siblings,” she continues, “they absolutely love each other but are also very competitive, and try to do things faster and better than one another.”

The two talented pups couldn’t be more different, too.

Bonnie loves fish (“She should have been a fisherman’s dog,” Olga jokes) while Simba loves steak.

The two animals also sport broadly different personalities and unique quirks.

Simba loves to play and run, and his friendly personality immediately shines through. “Simba immediately becomes the lovable centre of any company,” Olga explains. His battery never runs out, and he enjoys playing active games like catching balls and playing hide and seek.

Meanwhile, Bonnie is the house’s princess.

“Like a Princess Leia,” Olga explains, “capable, fun, but definitely a princess”.

Bonnie also has an exceptional nose, is great at finding things and people, and likes to follow Olga everywhere.

Despite their differences, however, the two dogs become a powerhouse whenever they are together. Bonnie and Simba see training as a game, and the training sessions also strengthen their bond with Olga.

“Training tricks is a two-way communication,” Olga explains, “some of the tricks that we do are suggested by Simba and Bonnie, other tricks I suggest, and we develop them further.”

Today, Bonnie and Simba know between 200 and 250 tricks each and especially love the ones involving props.

Eric Kilburn: The teen with giant hands and feet

Eric Kilburn Jr. can boast the largest hands for a living teenager in the world.

He also has the largest feet for a teenager (living), as he wears a remarkable size 23 shoes (or a size 22 in the UK).

Born and bred in Goodrich, Michigan, USA, 16-year-old Eric confessed that for years he struggled to find a pair of gloves that would fit him, as his hands measure a whopping 23.20 cm (9.13 in).

Meanwhile, his feet measure an average of 34.30 cm (13.50 in). That’s longer than a chessboard or a standard laptop keyboard.

Although he sometimes attracts stares and whispers from strangers, the teenager explains that people are mostly amazed by his hands and feet.

Eric's friends and family are used to his unique size, and he carries on to explain that his friends sometimes ask to try on his shoes.

“I’m just Eric to them,” he says.

He also has a close-knit bond with his family, and his grandparents have always been a cornerstone in his life.

“My mom has shown me that you can do anything even through hard times,” Eric continues. “Her strength and how she takes such good care of my brother and me, and cares about others while working towards her goals is pretty inspiring.”

“It is okay to stand out,” he says of those with unique attributes.

"Don’t let negativity distract you from your goals."

It can be hard to deal with people staring or asking questions at times, but it gives you more opportunity to meet really great people. - Eric

Sabrina and her collection

Sabrina Dausman’s outstanding Squishmallows collection

You’ll be amazed by Sabrina Dausman’s colourful, squishy collection.

This 27-year-old Squishmallows enthusiast from Illinois, USA, owns the largest collection of Squishmallows — an incredible assembly of 1,523 soft toys, and counting.

It all started in January 2018, Sabrina recalls, when she spotted “Fern the Valentine Fox” on the shelves of her local Walmart. Known as “the best host around” and a Valentine’s Day enthusiast, Fern is a pink fox from the Valentine’s Day collection.

After that encounter, it was love at first sight.

She has been collecting the viral soft toys for the last six years, and now owns a wide array of toys and is an enthusiastic part of the online community.

A widely popular range of soft toys, Squishmallows were created by Kelly Toys Holdings LLC in 2017. At the moment of writing, the company has created over 3000 variations of the original prototype for plenty of themed collections (known as squads) and collaborations, expanding their initial range of three sizes to 12 available measurements.

Among the many different squads, Sabrina’s favourite Squishmallow is Sam.

This gold-brown dog with floppy ears loves to run, “absolutely loves the outdoors and is always on the move”.  Most of all, Sam reminds Sabrina of her beloved childhood pet Luca.

“Luca was my best friend,” she explains.

Sabrina's dream for the future? She would love to design her own custom Squishmallow!

It was just meant for me to collect them! - Sabrina

Car shaped like a shoe

Sudha Cars Museum: Creative vehicles

Car designer Sudhakar Kanyaboyina, 68, runs an unusual museum in Hyderabad, India.

His Sudha Cars Museum broke the record for the largest collection of wacky vehicles in a museum, gathering a whopping array of 57 oddly-shaped cars.

Sudhakar’s passion for designing cars is immediately noticeable, as he transformed his lifelong dream into a kaleidoscopic reality.

The museum boasts over 1000 visitors every day, and for 24 years the quirky vehicles assembled within its walls have entertained crowds flooding in from all over India, as well as tourists from all over the world. Schools from every corner of the country also organize trips for their pupils.

The designs resemble everyday objects, from basketballs to chess boards and even hamburgers, and they brought to life Sudhakar’s childhood dream of “turning everyday items into wacky cars”.

One of his favourite models is the Basketball-Car, as he himself is an enthusiastic player of the sport.

Sudhakar defines breaking a record as "an exhilarating and deeply fulfilling experience" and "a moment of immense pride and joy."

“The journey towards this achievement has involved dedication, perseverance, and overcoming numerous challenges,” the imaginative designer continues.

“When finally holding the certificate, there is a profound sense of validation and accomplishment.”

The title is an honour that not only brings personal satisfaction but also recognition from peers, family, and the global community. - Sudhakar

In the future, Sudhakar aims to create even more vehicles, and aims to reach 100 cars for his museums.

Unsurprisingly, some crowd favourites include a swan vehicle and a toilet-shaped car.

Ruth Amos and Shawn Brown’s giant toothbrush

Ruth Amos, 34, and Shawn Brown, 33, are a bubbly duo of engineers based in the UK.

Together, they run the popular YouTube channel Kids Invent Stuff, a platform that counts over 66,600 followers dedicated to bringing imaginative ideas from children to life.

With over 70 inventions to their names, one towers over the rest (quite literally): George the electric toothbrush, or the largest toothbrush ever built.

The electric toothbrush replica stands at an incredible 2.008 m (6 ft 7 in). The project was inspired by an idea for a gardening tool submitted by an 11-year-old Kids Invent Stuff superfan named George.

Now, the colossal creation affectionately bears the name of its young inventor.

It took about five days to create the fully functioning toothbrush, which is entirely made of metal and comes with the possibility of adding gardening tools to its head.

Since then, the invention has been put to various unconventional uses that have little to do with brushing teeth — it handles all kinds of gardening jobs, from scrubbing surfaces to trimming tree branches.

With their commitment to pushing the boundaries of practical engineering, Ruth and Shawn have turned Kids Invent Stuff into an inspiring platform where the wildest, most creative ideas are transformed into working prototypes.

Among the many submissions they receive daily from young inventors, the pair confess that many may have record-breaking potential.

The newest Guinness World Records edition compiles plenty of records from around the globe.

For example, we’re sure you’ll be amazed by Thomas DePetrillo’s newest creation.

The self-taught American craftsman already holds the record for the tallest mobile superhero cosplay costume ever built (achieved with a massive Iron Man Hulkbuster) and has outdone himself again.

This time, he assembled the largest Gundam cosplay ever created. Standing at 3.12 m (10 ft 3 in), this gigantic mecha is every cosplayer’s dream!

Meanwhile, American gold medallist Chelsea Werner has once again showcased her outstanding skills. The Olympic gymnastics champion and three-time world champion has racked up several records:

  • Most backward walkovers in 30 seconds (II2) - 14
  • Most kips in 30 seconds (II2) - 10
  • Most backwards handsprings in 30 seconds (II2) - 16

31-year-old Chelsea has Down’s Syndrome and has triumphed as a gold-winning gymnast as well as an inspirational speaker and a herald for inclusivity.

“When I was born, the doctors told my parents I would always have low muscle tone among other things,” Chelsea writes on her website. “I think I have proven those doctors wrong!”

From skateboard stunts (we guarantee you'll be awed by the young Ema Kawakami, a skateboarding superstar from Japan) to record-breaking pull-ups on a wheelchair (a record smashed by the talented Syrian athlete Adnan Almousa Alferml), our record holders showcase vastly different talents and incredible skills.

Are you younger than 16 years old and want to break a record?
Our team has created a set of record titles just for you, so you don’t have to compete unfairly with grown-ups.

But the surprises are far from over, as this year marks the return of a much-cherished title.
