The International Federation of Robotics (IFR) is the voice of robotics in the world, founded as a non-profit by robotics organizations from over 20 countries in 1987 at the 17th International Symposium on Robotics. The IFR’s purpose is to promote and strengthen the robotics industry worldwide, and to raise public awareness about robotics technologies.
The most heavily automated part of the manufacturing sector is the automotive industry. According to the International Federation of Robotics' World Robotics 2022 Report, published on 13 October 2022, car makers operate 31% of the industrial robots active in the world today. The next largest sector is electrical and electronics, which uses 25% of the world's active industrial robots.
