Cristiano Ronaldo’s domination of social media has continued after being awarded the Guinness World Records title for the most YouTube subscribers gained in 24 hours.

The official number from YouTube of 19,729,827 subscribers was revealed exclusively to Guinness World Records earlier this week.

His channel now has over 48 million subscribers just six days after launching.

YouTube's dream team-up with football legend Cristiano Ronaldo has been a labour of love and dedication. And watching his channel explode is pure gold! This is just the kick-off to an epic adventure, and we're strapped in for the ride. Massive congrats to Cristiano and his squad! And let's keep those SIUUUUUUUBSCRIPTIONS rolling in! - Pedro Pina, VP of YouTube Europe, Middle East and Africa

Ronaldo, who now lives in Saudi Arabia whilst playing for Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr, also has a huge presence on other social media platforms.

He has the most followers on Instagram, with 637 million and became the first person to reach 500 million followers on Instagram in November 2022.

Also, he has 170 million followers on Facebook and 112 million on X/Twitter, meaning that his total following across social media reaches nearly one billion accounts.

And, if you needed reminding, Ronaldo has also set plenty of records on the pitch across his 20-year career.

  • First player to score 100 UEFA Champions League goals
  • Most UEFA Champions League appearances - 183
  • Most hat-tricks scored in the UEFA Champions League - 8, joint with Lionel Messi
  • Most UEFA European Championships goals - 14
  • First player to score in five different FIFA World Cups (male)
  • Longest gap between English Premier League appearances - 12 years, 118 days

Back in 2021, we awarded Cristiano with the award for the most goals scored in international football matches by an individual (male).

At the time, he had 111 goals. As of now, he is on 130.
