An ICON because...

BTS (short for Bangtan Sonyeondan, “Bulletproof Boy Scouts”) not only introduced K-pop to the world but also made history with their genre-spanning music covering themes such as mental health, loneliness and coming of age.

In 2018, they achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first K-pop act to reach No.1 on the US albums chart with their sixth studio album, Love Yourself: Tear, and just three years later, their single “Dynamite” became the first K-pop track to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify.

Even though some members of BTS are now pursuing solo careers, their popularity as a band persists.

On 24 February 2024, they became the most streamed band on Spotify with 38,080,199,465 streams.
