BTS add TikTok record to their growing list of social media achievements

Hot on the heels of their appearance in the new Guinness World Records 2020 book, we can now confirm that BTS have claimed a new record for the fastest time to reach one million followers on TikTok.
The South Korean K-Pop sensation announced their new venture on Wednesday 25 September with a tweet from their official Twitter account.

The band officially joined the platform at 19:40 KST (Korean Standard Time). Word spread rapidly amongst their army of social media followers, and by 23:11 KST they had reached their first million, achieving a record time of 3 hours 31 minutes.
The move led to a flurry of downloads as fans clambered to see what their heroes would post on the short-form video app.
According to stats from TikTok, after 13 hours the group had gained two million followers and over four million likes on their debut post. After 59 hours, less than two-and-a-half days after joining the platform, they reached three million fans.
TikTok has seen many high profile entertainment stars join the platform in recent months, including Will Smith, Miley Cyrus, Ellen Degeneres, Shakira, Cardi B., Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sam Smith.
BTS feature in Guinness World Records 2020 for the most viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours for "Boy with Luv", featuring Halsey. The track also claimed the overall title for most viewed YouTube video in 24 hours and most viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours by a K-pop group.

2019 has certainly been a year of superlative achievements for BTS; they also earned the title for best-selling album (South Korea) for Map of the Soul: Persona and BTS fans contributed to a new record for for most used hashtag on Twitter in 24 hours when voting took place for the annual Soompi Awards.
